- SynopsisGeneral Jack Ripper, Commanding Officer of the American Air Force Base, Burpleson, sets into force Operation R, which will initiate a nuclear attack on Russia. The astounded bomb crews prepare to obey orders and reach their target. At the Pentagon tension is heightened by telephone calls between the American and Russian Presidents, whilst at the sealed and isolated base, Ripper explains to his executive officer, Mandrake, his theories of communist infiltration through fluoridisation of drinking water. Mandrake is unable to get the code to recall the bombers until an attacking force makes the base surrender. All American planes are intercepted except one. The Russian ambassador then reveals that the first bomb dropped will release the Russian Doomsday machine and annihilate all life on earth. Dr Strangelove, an ex-Nazi scientist, suggests a way to preserve a nucleus of life. The bomb crew finally reach their destination. (Synopsis)
