- SynopsisDrama, based on true events. British author P.L. Travers reluctantly travels to Hollywood to meet Walt Disney who wants to persuade her to let him make a film of her book 'Mary Poppins'. Before signing the rights over, she decides to read cautiously through the screenplay with the scriptwriter Don DaGradi and the songwriters the Sherman Brothers, and she makes so many demands about all kinds of aspects of the film that everyone's life becomes a misery. Meanwhile, the process triggers for her many memories of her childhood in Australia, when her playful father, who had trouble keeping a steady job, turned to drink. Disney realises that there is something in Mrs Travers's past which is making her averse to handing her story over, and he tries to unlock the secret to free her from its grip and to free him to make the film.
