- SynopsisLondon. Sophie, an insomniac orphan, is awake at three in the morning when she spots a gentle giant, who takes her away from her orphanage to his home in Giant Country. Here he catches dreams, keeps them in jars and later blows them into the bedrooms of sleeping people who need something pleasant to dream. He says he was once called the Big Friendly Giant, so Sophie calls him BFG. His life is blighted, though, by the other giants who live locally, rough giants who like eating humans. Sophie and the BFG attempt to enlist the help of the Queen of England in a bid to rid Giant Country of these man-eating menaces. (Synopsis)
