Title page: "Production No. 5" (assume this refers to the Archers production #5) "A Short Guide to A CANTERBURY TALE to be Written, Produced & Directed by MICHAEL POWELL & EMERIC PRESSBURGER, The Archers Film Productions, etc." Michael Powell's remarks: "These guides were used not only to arrange support, but because the actors we had originally approached (Roger Livesey and Deborah Kerr) were not happy about the Glue Man in the film and refused to do it. I then thought of Eric Portman and cast Richard Attenborough's wife, Sheila Sims, as the land girl."
