- SynopsisThe Crawley family travel to Duneagle Castle in Scotland for a summer break. Despite opposition from Matthew and Robert, Mary joins the party. Tom Branson remains at Downton where he receives some unwanted attention from the new maid, Edna. Carson and Mrs Hughes keep the remaining staff busy and Mrs Patmore has an admirer in new tradesman Jos Tufton. The staff have time off at the local village fair and take part in a tug of war. Thomas comes to the aid of Jimmy when he is set upon by a group of men. In Scotland, Robert discovers that all is not well with their hosts. The Crawley's and staff attend the annual Gillies' Ball where Anna surprises Bates and Molesley causes some embarrassment. Mary is concerned about the baby and decides to return home. The rest of the family return early when Mary is admitted to hospital. Mary has a baby boy. Returning to the house, to tell the family the good news, Matthew is involved in a car accident. (Synopsis)
