- SynopsisA five-part series about war-time Britain, consisting of a three-part drama and two documentaries. The drama follows a ten-year-old boy on the run from Hitler's bombs, showing what happened when underprivileged inner-city children landed in comfortable country billets and professionals and manual workers rubbed shoulders at Civil Defence posts. The documentaries illustrate the impact of the Second World War on the people of Britain, charting the mood of the nation as it swung from thirties Depression to the feel-good Festival of Britain in 1951. Individual programme titles are as follows: The Road to war (documentary); Nelson's eye; Run rabbit, run; The Admiralty regrets (dramas); Never again (documentary). (Synopsis)
