- SynopsisFive programmes, three dramas and two documentaries about Tudor England. The dramas - based on historical evidence - follow the adventures of sixteen year-old Master William Shakestafe who is responsible for the Catholic education of the young son of a wealthy household torn by the stresses of opposition to the state religion. They involve the hunt for travelling priest Edmund Campion, the mounting of a masque about Drake, and a border skirmish which threatens the family succession. In the first documentary, young historians discover major themes of Tudor history. In the second, they seek evidence of Shakespeare's England. The five programme titles are as follows: HIDE AND SEEK (documentary); DANGEROUS JOURNEYS (drama); DISGUISES IN THE DARK (drama); A MURDER AND A MYSTERY (drama); The SEARCH FOR SHAKEPEARE'S ENGLAND (documentary). (Synopsis) First in new drama series for schools about Catholic/Protestant intrigue, featuring the young William Shakespeare. (Synopsis)
