- SynopsisPeriod drama set in Dublin in 1963. Alfie is a bus conductor who escapes his humdrum existence on his bus route by reciting poetry to his passengers. He enlists the bus driver and regular bus passengers in an ambitious attempt to stage Wilde's 'Salome' at the local church hall, but is opposed by the butcher who is annoyed at being cast as King Herod. One evening Alfie goes to a gay bar and tries to pick up a young man, but ends up being assaulted. Alfie is mortified that the secret of his sexuality is out to everyone. (Synopsis)
