- SynopsisACTUALITY. Single shot. The Grand Canal in Venice. View from moving launch travelling along the Grand Canal, Venice. It turns a corner to the left, showing houses, gondolas and the canal going off into the distance. The camera remains on the buildings to the right-hand side of the canal as the launch proceeds forwards (50ft/35mm). Note: Originally filmed in 68mm. One of a number of films taken in Venice by William Kennedy-Laurie Dickson in 1898.
