- SynopsisA dramatised documentary of life on the Aran Islands, off the west coast of Eire, which includes a long sequence concerning the hunt for a basking shark. (NFA Catalogue) Incidents from the life of Aran islanders living off the coast of Western Ireland. Some men bring in a boat with a leak. A boy catches fish from the clifftop, using a crab as bait. His mother harvests seaweed for the farm as her husband smashes rocks for the farm. The island's shark hunters spend two days struggling to catch a shark, as its oil is fuel for their lamps. A storm comes in and some men in their boat have trouble sailing back to land, as the wife and son watch anxiously from the clifftop. (Synopsis)
