- SynopsisThe only clues to help Inspector Birkett and Sergeant Saunders solve the murder of a model are a hidden gun and a ball point pen. Birkett discovers that the girl took drugs, was hated by Hammond Barker and loved by his brother, Jordan. Her mother tells of her daughter's unsettled life. Then the girl's neighbour, a well-known T.V. actor, is stabbed in a seedy coffee bar. Gradually the existence of a drug ring is uncovered for which Jordan is unwittingly carrying the drugs in his motor launch. The detectives pursue their suspects by river from Rotherhithe to Twickenham and catch them, but the murderer is not discovered until the girl's funeral. (Synopsis)
