- SynopsisA villager welcomes us to the graveyard in the peaceful English village of Bramley End, and explains that there is a famous story about the village's wartime battle with the Germans. The story is then told in flashback. On Saturday 23 May 1942, Bramley End is occupied by lorry loads of Royal Engineers who in fact are German advance invasion troops. Trivial details lead to their discovery and the Germans round up the locals and seal the village from the outside. The Home Guard and Army eventually are summoned and battle ensues. The Germans are exterminated and are buried in Bramley End graveyard. (Synopsis)
- Work historyThe following quotation appears after the opening credits: "Went the day well? We died and Never Knew, But, Well or ill Freedom. We Died for You"
