- SynopsisRomantic comedy. Three fashion models establish themselves in a luxury New York apartment in the hopes of meeting and marrying three millionaires. Cynical Schatze Page sets her sights on urbane, older Texan widower J.D. Hanley; flirty 'Loco' Dempsey finds herself in snowy Maine, torn between a grumpy married man and a handsome local, Eben, whom she takes for a wealthy landowner; while short-sighted Pola falls for a mysterious man with an eye-patch. Meanwhile, their apartment's owner, Freddie Denmark, who has fled town over a matter of unpaid taxes, tries to sneak back in to retrieve something from his safe. Also, a young man Loco has met, Tom Brookman, who the women think works at a petrol station, is in reality an extremely successful businessman. He keeps asking Schatze out but she does not want to waste time dating a poor man, however attractive she might find him. None of the women sees that the mercenary life may not be for the best, and that love may be trying to work its way into their plans. (Synopsis)
- Work historyPrologue note: The film opens, after the Fox fanfare, with a concert piece (approx. 8 minutes on film, or 6 minutes on DVD), featuring Alfred Newman conducting an orchestra playing his celebrated film score track "Street Scene". This is followed by the main title credits of the film proper. Other than setting the mood for the films' New York setting, the concert piece is unrelated to the main film.
