- SynopsisMusical comedy. Jeannie MacLean is a hard-working yet hard up young woman from Heatherdale, Vermont, where she lives with her dog Jock. Her late grandfather, John Knox MacLean, leaves her $4952 and Jeannie decides to spend it on the trip of a lifetime, to see Scotland, where her roots are. En route to the Edinburgh Festival, travelling by plane and then train, she meets Idaho washing machine salesman Stanley Smith, who enjoys helping her out though he achieves this as often by luck as by judgment. In Edinburgh, impoverished Scottish peer Lord McNairn overhears that Jeannie is a millionaire, and, unaware that this is very far from literally true, he pursues her romantically for her money. Smith also tries to woo her, though he damages their relationship by lying to Jeannie about his also dating a flirty French redheaded model, Helene, whom he has bumped into. Jeannie sees lovely parts of Scotland with McNairn as a guide, but soon her fortnight is up and she must face some big choices about her future. (Synopsis)
